This page is here to share some educational resources regarding the benefits of massage, and some information about the modalities that I offer and what they look like. If you are interested in a modality that you do not see listed here, please feel free to inquire with me directly.
Therapeutic massage is a combination of relaxation and deep work that can require the client to breathe deeply and hold space within themselves and be strong through the experience. For athletes or those with deep muscular discomfort and strong trigger points, a therapeutic massage provides substantial relief. These massages also require more preparation and recovery due to energy that the body uses to aid in the process of self healing.
Essential oils can greatly deepen the sense of relaxation within a massage by stimulating the vagus nerve and bringing the body into a very slightly altered state of consciousness. Depending on the essential oil(s) incorporated into a massage, different self healing properties of the body can be enhanced and inspired to express.
Cupping is a modality that can be added or incorporated into any massage that needs some additional elbow grease to decongest a strongly affected area. This technique uses therapeutic cups to create negative pressure in a concentrated area/trigger point to improve blood flow. It deeply impacts the tissue and allows the body to greatly expedite the self-healing process.
Swedish massage is the western modality of massage that features long, smooth strokes and fluidity of movement. This is generally what the average person envisions when they want a relaxing full-body massage to ease the tension of a long day, or they want to gift their partner a relaxing experience before a romantic occasion.
When the body holds onto tension, it can develop areas of heavy congestion that manifest as a trigger point. There are a lot of perspectives on the source of this congestion and different techniques to alleviate this cramped, localized feeling of discomfort and tightness; there are also many different words people use for "trigger points" such as a knot or a kink in the muscle. Trigger point therapy is a technique implemented within a massage that applies direct pressure to these spots of deep congestion and allowing the body to breath into the sensation, allowing new blood to hydrate the area when the pressure is released.
Yoga is appealing to so many people because everyone has their own relationship with yoga. We are each at our own ability level because we each have our own bodies, which come at various ages, levels of agility and strength, and endured life experiences such as injuries and periods of sickness that shape our physicality. Yoga is the undoing of these circumstances and peeling back the layers of our existence until we reveal our inner self.
It would be an honor for me to create a yoga regiment that is customized specifically for you and the season of life you are navigating. Yoga stretches the tendons and ligaments into smooth, parallel alignment with one another in a similar way that massage breaks down tissues and allows the body to reassimilate them.
With my 432 HZ singing bowl, I will lead you through a guided meditation, returning you to your breathing as you close your eyes and allow yourself to be taken on a journey within your mind. I have hand-written a series of customized guided meditation scripts, which are intentionally chosen based on your needs during that specific session. Guided meditations are an excellent way to end a massage, but they can also be their own 30-minute or one-hour service.
Guided meditations are a great way to allow me to hold your hand as your walk within your own mind. This is a great way for someone who is new to meditation to experience it for the first time, and it is also a fun and unique experience for someone who meditates regularly on their own and wants to mix it up.
